Hey, you - yes, the woman who is three paragraphs ahead of me. Hold up. We're going somewhere new.

You've read the books. You've done the therapy, possibly several rounds of it. (Hell, you might even be the therapist!) But it often ends up feeling like you're just venting about the surface level stresses in your life without really getting to the deeper layers. You can describe your mother's emotional immaturity with the cool reserve of a scientist and have differentiated your father's physical presence with his emotional absence. You can name your attachment style, primary love language, enneagram number and Meyers Briggs acronym at a dinner party.

You know, intellectually, that you grew up without the attunement you needed, and that, somehow, the closest relationships you have today keep replicating that same mis-attuned dynamic from way back then.

What you have not done is the actual work of bringing any of that cognitive understanding from your head into your body, your emotional world, or your energy field.

This isn't a intellectual problem. You're super smart, and you have plenty of knowledge. This is a matter of bringing the unconscious, felt-sense layer of how you relate up into the light. It's a the patterns and ways of relating that got built when I was six are still quietly running the show at forty-six problem. And no amount of reading is going to dislodge that, because the parts of you actually running things aren't following along. (They're too busy making lists, hiding in closets, and rehearsing twelve different ways to say one sentence depending on how it might land.)

The Reckoning is what we do about that.

And you've probably found yourself annoyed, irritable, or resentful about all of the things you do everyday to make life smoother for everyone around you:

Bringing the dish. Bringing the gift. Bringing the card. Remembering all of the things.
Holding back the thing you actually want to say because the timing is bad. (The timing is always bad.)
Being the one who does all of the emotional labor in your conversations, filling silence with inquiry or information to prevent others from feeling an ounce of discomfort.
Quietly noticing that you never quite get the kind of check-in you've been sending out to others for thirty years.
Deep down, feeling afraid that even if you could ask for what you really wanted, they wouldn't see it the same, or they'd be unwilling or unable to meet you.

WHEN THE WORLD seems to be constantly demanding more...

And you can do it, so you should do it... right!?

You're capable and responsible. But the mental load is heavier this year than last year, which was heavier than the year before. And the hormones just keep fluctuating. Your face and body might be changing in ways that you are 1,000% not okay with. So many things are out of your control and they're making you rethink your whole strategy.

You might be thinking that what you really need is to manage it better. A better system. More organization. Firmer boundaries. Find the framework that will finally let you keep doing all of this with less of a cost.

But that won't work.

Because the true cost isn't in the load itself. It's in the part of you who learned, at six, that her value was based on not needing anything and handling everything...

The part of you who learned, early and often, to equate self-abandonment with worth and caretaking with love? She is the one running the show. No system in the world will make her tired enough or busy enough to retire. She has to be met.

You don't need a better calendar. You don't need to wait until things slow down. (They won't.) You need to look, with someone who knows what they are looking at, at the part of you who took the job of holding all of it in the first place.

The Reckoning is where that looking happens.
